'Planting and Growing'

Have you wondered how you are going to get through a difficult time in your life? Ever face a temptation that overcomes you again and again? How can you be strong enough to face these temptations and get past them?
James, the brother of Jesus and head of the church in Jerusalem, wrote about those difficulties and how to live above the circumstances rather than under the circumstances. After going through all the difficulties the new Christians were facing, he writes, "...humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you." (James 1:21) The only way to live above the circumstances is to allow Jesus (the Word of God), the Holy Spirit (the breath of God), and the Scriptures (the record of the voice of God in history) to live and grow in you. By pursuing God with passion and allowing his Word planted in you to grow, you will be transformed.
This growth doesn't happen all at once. It is a process of allowing the Word of God to change us one habit, one attitude, one relationship at a time. You can't remake yourself to be godly. You have to allow the Word which is planted in you to grow.
This Sunday, I am happy to announce that Ann Birdsong will be joining our staff. She comes to us from Destin UMC where she was active for many years and headed many ministries of outreach and transformation. She will be our Director of Evangelism and Member Development. Please pray for her as she gets started in this new position and give her a warm welcome to Munholland, this beautiful body of Christ.
