On Ash Wednesday, February 10th, Munholland United Methodist Church, will be offering "Drive Thru Ashes", again this year.
In the Christian tradition, Ash Wednesday marks the start of the holy season of Lent, a time for reflection and repentance in preparation for the celebration of Easter. For centuries, Christians have received a cross of ashes on the face at the beginning of that season as a reminder of our humanity and mortality, and the grace of God. Drive Thru Ashes provides the opportunity to participate in that tradition for people who have no church home, do not have time to go to a traditional service, or who are mobility challenged.
Munholland UMC invites our members, visitors, and friends to have ashes imposed on their foreheads, desire prayer, or just to speak to a minister for a moment to come to the parking lot on Metairie Road, stay in your car, and take part. Reverends Tim Smith, AnnaKate Rawles and Janet Davis will be outside in the parking lot on Ash Wednesday from 7 am-1 pm.
Munholland's traditional Ash Wednesday Service will be held at 6:30 pm in the Sanctuary.
